Thursday Update: EncoreFX $10,000 Victoria International Women’s ITF

And then there were 8!

Friday will feature quarterfinal singles play at the EncoreFX $10,000 Victoria International Women’s ITF Tennis Championships at Panorama Recreation Centre in North Saanich.

On Thursday, all the seeds who were playing made it through to the final 8.

First seed Alexa Graham of New York defeated Ontario’s Lauren Chypyha in the long battle 6-4,7-6.

Third Seed Steffi Carruthers needed two sets to beat Karina Vyrlan 6-3, 6-2.

The number 6 seed Jessica Fialla of USC defeated Ontario’s Charlotte Petrick  7-5, 6-4.

In the only match of day that did not feature a seeded player, Ines Vias defeat Kendai Hance from the University of Washington 6-7, 6-2,6-1.

Thursday’s quarterfinal action starts at 10 am with the first two matches being:
Nicole Hoynaski of Australia             vs        Lorraine Guillermo (USA)
Katherine Fahey                                 vs        Canadian Stacey Fung of Vancouver.

The next two matches to follow will feature:
Alexa Graham (1)                               vs        Steffi Carruthers (3)
Ines Vias                                             vs        Jessica Fialla (6)

Following all singles action will be the Doubles final which will feature:
Katherine Fahey / Victoria Flores     vs        Lorraine Guillermo / Kristina Smith
