It’s been a long time since we could all gather together to celebrate our amazing sport, so this year’s National Bank Celebration of Champions was a much-anticipated event! Nearly 200 guests attended in their finery to celebrate everyone’s achievements. Tennis BC was able to acknowledge our many league winners and had the privilege of awarding the Tennis BC excellence awards, a special award recognizing the UBC Men’s Tennis Team for their remarkable season and unparalleled success at Nationals, and a Tennis Canada Distinguished Service Award.

John, we thank you for your dedication, expertise, passion, and poise – most of us would not be here without you!
New to the Tennis BC team, Jonathan Wornell Executive Director, spoke about his vision for tennis in BC. Jonathan brings with him a wealth of experience and an innate desire to grow and promote tennis in BC to help to develop the sport we all love.
After the speeches, it was time for the awards! It was wonderful to see all the teams together as well as to acknowledge some folks who have made outstanding contributions to tennis and community over the last year.

Champions Celebration 2018
Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club – On Wednesday, October 24th Tennis BC hosted the 2018 League Celebration of Champions. Each year, we host this event in the Fall to recognize the teams who win their categories in the Lower Mainland’s annual league.
The event, hosted at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, featured appetizers, door prizes, a photo booth, a unique chance for league teams across divisions to catch up one more time for the year, and of course, the presentation of perpetual trophies and medals to the winning teams.
The event is a great opportunity to recognize the efforts of all the league organizers, division organizers, league captains, and teams. The annual Tennis BC league is a fun activity for everyone involved, however, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes and we would like to extend our appreciation for that hard work.
Thank you to Shaughnessy for hosting the 2018 League Celebration of Champions. We would also like to thank HEAD and Penn for providing our door prizes full of awesome tennis swag, all the league players who attended, and once again, all the league coordinators and volunteers.

However, once players arrived, they got down to the business of playing then relaxing on the Hollyburn patio with refreshments to enjoy the spectacular city views.
Thank you to our league sponsor Miele, and presenting sponsor, Odlum Brown and Floyd Hill, for the ongoing support in promoting League play in our province and across the country. Thanks also to Tonic Apparel and HEAD for providing prizing and thank you to our volunteers and staff for your tireless work to make this event successful and enjoyable for all participants.
In addition, thank you to the host club, Hollyburn and its staff, for making this a memorable event for all participants. Players enjoyed the experience of playing at a world-class facility with spectacular city views and were treated to a fun BBQ on Saturday evening.
