The Rogers First Set Tour – Rookie is a national program designed to bridge the gap between entry-level tennis and the provincial competitive junior circuit. Originally launched in 2009, the tour has reached thousands of juniors each year at tennis clubs and community venues throughout the country. Last year, over 6,000 boys and girls across the country competed in over 450 events. The Rogers First Set Tour – Rookie encourages players to continue through the tennis pathway to transition to sanctioned competition or enjoy tennis for life.
Boys and girls up to the age of 18 are eligible to play in Rogers First Set Tour – Rookie events. All Rookie events are non-elimination tournaments. These events offer beginner competitors a fun and exciting experience with multiple opportunities to play. Each player is guaranteed a minimum of three matches.

**Players who have participated in five Rising Star events are not eligible to play in Rookie.
The Rogers First Set Tour – Rising Stars provides young Canadian tennis players (ages 7 to 10) with an opportunity to play competitive tennis in a fun environment. Last year, approximately 1,000 boys and girls across the country competed in almost 400 events. Rising Stars tournaments are the perfect opportunity for young tennis players to improve their skills and make new friends. The Rogers First Set Tour – Rising Stars is designed to provide a tournament format for kids whereby they take part in multiple meaningful matches in a short block of time, making it convenient for families.
Players must compete in at least 3-5 Rookie Tours before being eligible for Rising Stars.

2024 Primary Age Groups:
U18 – born in 2006, 2007
U16 – born in 2008, 2009
U14 – born in 2010, 2011
U12 – born in 2012, 2013
2-Star Development Series (★★)
This series of tournaments is designed for players who are transitioning from the Rogers Rookie Tour and Orange-Green Ball (U9/U10) Circuit or have minimal tournament experience. Players will obtain Tennis Canada ranking points.
Eligibility in 2024
- All entrants must hold a current Tennis BC membership or active membership of other Provincial Tennis Associations in Canada.
- Players are allowed to play 2 age categories up.
- Exception: players born in 2015 (9 years old) are only allowed to play up to 2Star-U12. They are not eligible to enter any U14 tournaments.
- Top 10 ranked BC players are not eligible to play in their own age group or one age category up 2star tournaments. Exceptions may be made if draw is not full.
- For example: A top 10 ranked U12 player is not eligible to play in a U12 or U14 2Star event, but they can enter a 2Star-U16 event.
Acceptance
- Acceptance is based on first come first served with primary age group priority.
- Draw size may be limited to 16 depending on court availability.
- Priority is given to primary age group.
- Wild cards may be issued at discretion of host club (1 WC/8 entries).
Draw and Match Format
- Draws will be set up to give players a minimum 2 matches
- Match format is 2 tie-break sets and a 10-point match tie break in lieu of 3rd. Other match formats may be adopted depending on court availability.
Timeline
- Registration opens on Monday on the week prior to tournament date.
- Registration closes on Thursday at 11:59 pm on the week prior to tournament date. Withdrawal closes on Monday at 12 noon on the tournament week.
- Draw: Tuesday after 2 pm of the tournament week.
- Schedule is posted on Wednesday of the tournament week.
Ranking Points
The winner of 2-Star tournament receives the same number of points as the finalist of a 3-Star Competition Series.
2024 Primary Age Groups:
U18 – born in 2006, 2007
U16 – born in 2008, 2009
U14 – born in 2010, 2011
U12 – born in 2012, 2013
3 and 3.5-Star Competition Series (★★★ and ★★★+)
3-Star Competition Series are designed for more competitive and experienced players looking to enter top 30 ranking in BC.
3.5-Star Competition+ tournaments are for players who are transitioning into Provincial and National Selection level events.
Eligibility in 2024
- All entrants must hold a current Tennis BC membership or active membership of other Provincial Tennis Associations in Canada.
- Players are allowed to play 2 age group categories up for 3-Star tournaments.
- Exception: players born in 2015 (9 years old) must obtain permission from Tennis BC to play in 3-Star or higher levels U12 tournaments. They are not eligible to enter any U14 tournaments.
Acceptance
- Acceptance is based on Tennis Canada ranking points.
- When entrants cannot be distinguished by rankings, acceptance will be decided by drawing lots.
- Draw size may be limited to 16 depending on court availability.
- Tennis BC may issue wild card under special circumstances.
Draw and Match Format
- Draws will be set up to give player minimum of 2 matches.
- Match format typically is 2 tie-break sets and a 10-point match tie break in lieu of a 3rd set. Other match formats may be adopted depending on court availability.
Timeline
- Registration opens 28 days prior to tournament date.
- Registration closes 7 days prior to start of tournament at 11:59 pm. Withdrawal deadline is Monday at 12 noon of the tournament week.
- Draw: Tuesday after 2 pm of the tournament week.
- Schedule is posted on Wednesday of the tournament week.
Ranking Points
The winner of 3-Star tournament receives the same number of points as the 16th position of a 4-Star Selection Series event.
The winner of 3.5-Star tournament receives the same number of points as the semi-finalist of a 4-Star Selection Series event

Selection Series (★★★★) & Junior Provincial (★★★★★)
- The Indoor Selection Series Circuit and Junior Provincial will provide players opportunities to represent BC at the 2025 Fischer Junior National Championships providing that each player competes in the closed indoor provincial championships. Players in U12s, U14s and U16s will be selected using the points race and based on their best performance in 1 of the 2 selection series events plus the closed indoor Provincial Championships.
- Acceptance to the selection series events AND the Provincial Championships will be based on the National Bank Rankings system.
- Entry fee is not collected at registration time. Payment instructions will be sent to main draw + 3 reserve list players after Acceptance list is finalized.
- The U18 Team BC merit spot will be selected ONLY based on Provincial Championships singles results.

MULTIPLE AGE CATEGORIES
Players are eligible to play two age categories up, unless they are born 2016 or later.
Entry into the BC provincials is closed, and acceptance will be based on the players National Bank Rankings as of the closing deadline for the event. A maximum of 2 wild cards awarded for each category.
Players will be eligible to qualify for more than one National Championship provided they meet the eligibility requirements for each category.
