Vancouver, BC – On Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 9 AM to 5 PM, Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club will be hosting world-renowned tennis coach, Louis Cayer, for an all-day conference. For TPA-certified coaches, this will serve as a re-certification opportunity.

In the morning, from 9 AM to 12:15 PM, adult players of all levels and coaches are welcome to attend Part 1: Enjoying and Winning in (Mixed) Doubles. During this presentation, Louis will share ideas on how to enjoy and play effective mixed doubles at club level with specific tactical patterns to train. Participants will not be playing, rather they will be learning about two frequent aspects of (mixed) doubles: when both partners are at the same level, but mostly when one player is stronger; just like it happens at the professional level. The session will cover various poaching situation skills like poaching during rally or doing I formation to have the server move tot heir strong side. Following part 1, there will be a lunch and networking opportunity from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.

Following lunch, coaches are welcome to Part 2 for an on-court presentation: Coaching Smart Singles Tennis Players. Coach Louis will share how he coachesc ompetitive players with the same approach for professionals, juniors and adult club players. Topics will include:

  • How do you start your tactical coaching with competitive players
  • When you have a topic how do you identify key patterns and how to train them
  • Importance of training both sides of the coin to understand the game better
  • Coaching disguise and anticipation is a must to reduce anxiety and play smarter.
