Victoria – Coaching staff from the Oak Bay Recreation Centre and the Society for Kids at Tennis (KATS) took part in the Wheelchair Instructor Course at the Oak Bay Rec Centre in Victoria on Sunday, September 9th. Tennis Canada’s Kai Shrameyer, a former Para-Olympian, facilitated the course along with the BC Wheelchair Sports Coach Steve Manley. The attending coaches were taught how to adapt their coaching skills to systematically develop beginning wheelchair players and help them learn the fundamentals of playing the game such as rallying, starting a point with serves and returns, and most importantly, chair mobility. Many thanks to the team at BC Wheelchair Sports for making this event happen for the first time in Victoria!

Coach Jimmy Perry Costamagna, from KATS, shared his experience and gratitude. Read about Jimmy’s experience here!
