North Vancouver, BC – It was semifinals day for boys and girls singles in North Vancouver on Friday. Starting off the day, Nate Bonetto (USA) defeated the last remaining Canadian boys singles player, Jayden Templeman, 6-3, 6-1. In the second boys singles semifinal, Colton Smith (USA) defeated Noah Gampel (USA 6-2, 6-2 in an all- American battle.
On the girls singles side, Danielle Tuhten prevailed in an all-BC match up defeating Stefanie Frias da Silva 6-3, 6-2. Tuhten will face-off tomorrow against No. 1 Jenna Defalco (USA) who broke Phoebe Peus’ (USA) 6-match winning streak at the Davis Trading ITF in a closely contested three-set battle. Defalco prevailed 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
In an all-Canadian girls doubles final, Leena Bennetto and Martyna Ostrzygalo defeated Danielle Tuhten and Reece Carter 6-1, 6-1. Americans Suko and Jakovljevic took home the boys doubles title with a 10-6 third set match tiebreak victory over Canadians, Henry Ren and Berk Tunali.
The boys and girls singles finals will start side by side at 9:45am on Saturday, October 19th at North Vancouver Tennis Centre. On Court 1, Colton Smith will take on Nate Bonetto in an all-American clash for the boys title. In the girls final on Court 2, BC’s Danielle Tuhten will take on American, Jenna Defalco.
