Following the 2019 Tennis BC Annual General Meeting, Tennis BC hosted a very important workshop regarding Safe Sport.

As previously announced, Tennis Canada, Tennis BC and other sport organizations across Canada have boldly stepped up their commitment to ensure a safe and positive environment for everyone to enjoy and prosper in tennis. As part of this initiative, we hosted a complimentary workshop on the topic of Safe Sport. The workshop was lead by Tennis Canada’s Director of Safesport and Integrity, Ilan Yampolsky, and former Canadian Olympic-skier and Safe Sport advocate, Allison Forsyth. Discussion topics included:

  • Liability and reporting;
  • Types of abuse and grooming process;
  • Safe Sport from a first-hand victim’s experience;
  • The current landscape of Safe Sport in Canada; and
  • Safe Sport initiatives for tennis in Canada for the next year.

Whether you are an athlete, the parent of an athlete, a coach, a club representative or in any way involved with sport in BC and you were not able to attend the workshop in person or watch the live streaming of the workshop on our Facebook page, we urge you to please take the time to watch a recording of the Safe Sport workshop, as well as, review the information below:
