Tennis BC is proud to congratulate Thomas Venos on receiving the Sport BC Award for Male Athlete with a Disability at the 2026 Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards, a well‑deserved honour recognizing his outstanding achievements in wheelchair tennis over the past year.
Throughout the past season, Thomas continued to solidify his place as one of Canada’s premier wheelchair tennis athletes. In 2025, he captured three ITF titles, one in singles and two in doubles, highlighting his consistency and excellence on the international stage. He also claimed the trophy at the inaugural National Bank Open wheelchair event, delivering another milestone performance in his accomplished career.
As the 2026 season began, Thomas represented Canada at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Americas Qualification, where he posted an impressive 3–1 singles record, demonstrating his reliability and leadership in team competition. He then opened his ITF Tour season in Rome, Georgia, marking the start of another year of high‑performance play.
This year, Thomas was unable to attend the Sport BC Banquet in person as he was competing internationally, proudly representing Canada on the world stage. In his absence, his parents, Rosemary and Jeff Venos, accepted the award on his behalf, making the moment especially meaningful for the entire Venos family and the tennis community that continues to cheer him on.
Tennis BC congratulates Thomas on this remarkable achievement and celebrates his dedication, resilience, and ongoing impact on wheelchair tennis in British Columbia and across Canada.
