The Selection Series #2 Qualifying and Main Draw events took place throughout January. Thank you to VLTBC, TTC Surrey, UBC, JTC and Steve Nash for hosting these tournaments and to Davis Trading, our Selection Series sponsor for making these events possible. We would also like to thank the players, parents, officials, and volunteers who participated in the tournaments.
Under-12
In the boys singles, Anyan Xu won the title with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Owen Nguyen in the final. Owen and Anyan then partnered up to take home another trophy by winning the doubles title. On the girls side, Emma Si Yu Dong defeated Carling Allaye-Chan 6-2, 6-1 in the final. Dong then teamed up with Havana Kadi to win the doubles tournament 6-2, 6-1 in the final. Full Draws & Results
Under-14
Stewart Bernard Aronson was the boys singles champion as he defeated Denny Bao 6-1, 6-1 in the final. In doubles Stewart and Denny defeated Lawrence Ivanov and Zach Scott 10-2 in the third set match-tiebreak. On the girls singles, Alessia Cau defeated Gabriella Lindgren in three sets to win the tournament. Cau then paired up with Isabelle Zhu to win the doubles in straight sets over Isabella Asenov and Ella Nielsen. Full Draws & Results
Under-16
Stefanie Silva defeated Chae Eun Yoo 6-1, 6-1 to take home the trophy. Yoo then paired up with Grace Haugen to take home the doubles title over Alessia Cau and Isabelle Zhu. On the boys side, Aram Noroozian defeated Keita Duclos in two sets to win the boys singles. The boys then went from competitors to partners to take home the doubles title over Ethan Churchill and Aron Pilbart. Full Draws & Results
Under-18
Lachlan Robertson defeated Jackson Boone 7-5, 6-2 to win the boys title. Tyler Radloff and Henry Ren won the boys doubles 6-4, 7-6 in the final. Following up on her success in the Under-16 category, Stefanie Silva also won the Under-18 singles title over Alexandra Nielsen 6-3, 7-6. Silva and Grace Haugen then paired up to take home the doubles title 7-6, 7-6 over Nielsen and Chae Eun Yoo. Full Draws & Results
