Dear Tennis Friends,

Once again, Tennis BC and our community partners are thrilled to announce that the Odlum Brown Vancouver Open has graciously offered to be an integral part in our fundraising campaign to give underserved kids from all over the province the opportunity to make positive change through playing tennis.

This year’s prizes value over $8,600 and there are two ways to win: The prize-draw raffle features three amazing prizes and the 50/50 draw offers a cash windfall for one lucky winner. See below for details!

For the past eight years, many of Tennis BC’s Community Ambassadors and staff have been personally involved in facilitating these wonderful programs in partnership with our many community sponsors such as the YMCA, Canuks Autism, and local school districts.  Along with our Community Ambassadors, Tennis BC and our partners bring the sport of tennis to several underserved community youth-centered groups like at-risk youth, children with developmental differences, and the Immigrant/Refugee New Canadians Program through the YMCA.

Tennis BC’s Community Ambassadors are our “boots on the ground” in your local community and can attest firsthand to the positive impact of introducing tennis into the participants’ lives and how the experience the kids gain continues to be a positive force going forward. As anyone who plays knows, tennis is about so much more than learning a sport.

While participants learn the physical requirements of tennis, program facilitators integrate skills that build social and emotional resiliency and teach life lessons that translate to real-world situations. Self-esteem, self-confidence, teamwork, problem solving, and persistence are crucial to making better choices and creating better outcomes in other areas of life and are building blocks for future success.

Many children come to us having never had the opportunity to play tennis, and within the program, participants gain a sense of accomplishment, acceptance, and learn a stronger sense of self-worth that they take with them for life.

Your generous contribution does more than give you a chance to win—it gives kids from all walks of life and from every corner of the province—from big cities to small towns—a better chance to succeed—on the court, but more importantly, in the real world. For the price of slightly more than a can of tennis balls, you can help to make a change for the better in the lives of underserved youth through the game we all love.
