Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club – The Tennis BC Excellence Awards were presented this past weekend at the 2018 Tennis BC Annual General Meeting. In addition to the awards, Tennis BC honoured retiring board members, presented a Tennis Canada award, as well as, announced the 2018 Ed Siemens Memorial Tennis Fund bursary recipients.
Every year Tennis BC honours the outstanding and invaluable achievements and contributions of members throughout our community. Nominations are submitted by members of our community (you!) every summer and the recipients announced at our AGM.
It is with great honour and pride that we announce this year’s winners. Congratulations!
Excellence in Officiating
We also recognized the contributions of two of our retiring board members, Yevgeniy Meshcherekov and Patrick Caffrey. We thank them for their dedication to tennis in BC and wish them all the best.
John McMurchy, a Past President of our Board, and someone who continues to be an integral part of our sport in BC was presented with a Tennis Canada award.
Ed Siemens Memorial Tennis Fund
For the first time, we also presented deserving young high performance players with the Ed Siemens Memorial Tennis Fund bursary. Thank you to Doug Milne for attending the awards ceremony to present our recipients with their bursaries, as well as, share with all of us more about Ed Siemens himself.
