Victoria, BC – It’s not every day that you become #1 in Canada in tennis, squash or racquetball. Oak Bay Tennis Club’s George Morfitt has done it before. In fact, he’s been #1 in Canada in all three sports.

Thanks to his great results in 2016, Morfitt reached the #1 ranking in the Men’s 80+ Singles category in British Columbia and all of Canada. He was the BC Provincial Champion and Western Canadian Champion, as well as, a Finalist at the 80+ Senior Nationals in 2016.a

Though retired from squash and racquetball at this point in his athletic career, Morfitt once held the #1 rankings in Canada in both these sports as well. As for tennis, George is still actively playing and competing, and we are eager to see what 2017 has in store for this exemplary athlete.

George is a former President of Tennis BC, Squash BC and Squash Canada, and Chair of the Canadian Sport Centre Pacific. His wife Peggy is also a nationally ranked athlete in various throws events in the Canadian Masters Track & Field.

Tennis BC congratulates George on a lifetime of achievement across all three racquet sports. George truly defines what the saying “tennis is a game for a lifetime” means, and then some. Tennis BC thanks George for all he has done and continues to do for the tennis community in BC, as well as, for being a role model and inspiration to us all.
