The 2019 Davis Trading Junior Indoor Provincials concluded earlier this month. Thank you to all of the host clubs and our sponsors including, Davis Trading, for their support in making the Junior Provincials happen, as well as, for the entire Selection Series events. Tennis BC would also like to thank our players, parents, officials, and volunteers who participated in the tournament.
Under-12 Provincials: UBC Tennis Centre
In the boys singles, Owen Nguyen won the title over Anyan Xu in a hard fought three set match. Scotty Su and Eric William Wang partnered up to take the doubles title. The boys did not drop a set the entire tournament. On the girls side, Emma Si Yu Dong dominated the competition and took home the singles title. Dong then teamed up with Havana Kadi to win the doubles tournament.
Under-14 Provincials: Richmond Country Club
Cameron Jim was the boys singles champion as he defeated Denny Bao 6-1 6-2 in the final. In doubles, Denny Bao and Connor Church defeated Cameron Jim and Ji Seong (Daniel) Kim 10-1 in a third set super tiebreak. On the girls singles, Alessia Cau defeated Isabelle Zhu to win the tournament. Cau then paired up with Isabelle Zhu to win the doubles in straight sets over Isabella Asenov and Ella Nielsen.
Under-16 Provincials: Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club
Grace Haugen defeated Stefanie Silva in a tough three setter to take home the trophy. Haugen and Silva then teamed up to take home the doubles trophy. On the boys side, Aram Noroozian defeated Henry Ren in two sets to win the boys singles. Noroozian went on to also win the doubles title alongside partner, Keita Duclos.
Under-18 Provincials: Burnaby Tennis Club
Following up on his success in the under 16 category, Aram Noroozian defeated Lachlan Robertson to win the boys singles title. In doubles, Isaac Dee and Calvin Thalheimer outlasted Chopra and Dugmore in third-set match-tiebreak. Alexandra Nielsen defeated Stefanie Silva 6-1 3-6 6-2 to win the under 18 provincials singles title. Silva and Grace Haugen then paired up to take home the doubles title over Sonia Skobkareva and Vanessa Kahkesh.

Did you know BC is hosting the Under 14 Canadian Indoor Rogers National Championships at UBC Tennis Centre from March 30-April 5th.
We are looking for volunteer help beginning March 29th until April 5th. Volunteer tasks include: tournament desk help, drivers to transport players to/from the hotel/airport, controlling spectators moving into the viewing area, and other general help. You do not have to commit to the entire week or an entire day, we are happy to have volunteers for 4 hour shifts.
