The Miele Regional Team Tennis qualifier, for the Okanagan/Interior, was held in the heart of the Okanagan’s wine county, and hosted by the Lakeview Heights Tennis Club in West Kelowna.  Eight courts were in action all day and all weekend with some Beach Tennis being played on the side!

Teams came from Sechelt, Nelson, Vernon, Kelowna, Salmon Arm, Kamloops, and Summerland and were welcomed by Tournament Organizers Joachim Nierfeld, Rosie Schaich, and Doug Rawson. Kathleen Nierfeld and her team provided daily breakfasts and lunches for all the competitors, and the Okanagan sun shone on the weekend event.

The event was highlighted by an outstanding Players’ Social hosted at the spectacular Cedar Creek Winery.  The venue provided unblocked views of Lake Okanagan and surrounding hills while serving gourmet food from the BBQ with some of North America’s best wines.
Qualifying to participate in the Miele Provincial Team Tennis Championships for 2011 were:

Women’s 3.0/3.5 – The Sunshine Girls from Sechelt
Women’s 4.0/4.5 – Rosies are Red (although we are told they are also Wild!) from Kelowna
Men’s 3.0/3.5      -  Kamloops Tennis Association
Men’s 4.0/4.5      -  Salmon Arm Team 2
