North Vancouver, BC – Yesterday was the first day of main draw action at the Davis Trading Junior ITF Indoor Championships J4 at North Vancouver Tennis Centre. In boys singles, Keita Duclos defeated world No. 409 and No. 1 seed from Chile, Hanamichi Carvajal Suazo 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. BC’s Jackson Boone, Aram Noroozian, Lachlan Robertson also prevailed in their first round singles matches. On the girls side, Danielle Tuhten won an all BC match-up by defeating Grace Haugen 6-1, 6-4. Fifth seed Leena Bennetto, and sixth seed Stefanie Frias da Silva, both from BC, also won their opening matches.

Today the girls singles Round of 16, as well as, the boys doubles quarterfinals are taking place. Out of the 16 girls singles players, 13 are Canadian with 8 representing BC. Some matches to highlight are Reece Carter (CAN) VC Chae Eun Yoo (CAN) and No. 1 seed Jenna Defalco (USA) against BC’s own Alexandra Nielsen (CAN). Girls play will begin at 8:30am at North Vancouver Tennis Centre. The boys doubles quarterfinals will follow the girls singles (approximately beginning at 10 AM).
