North Vancouver, BC – BC’s Danielle Tuhten and Stefanie Frias da Silva both advanced in the girls singles draw on Thursday at the Davis Trading Junior ITF Indoor Championships. Both players will move on to the semifinals after 3 set wins. No. 1 Jenna Defalco (USA) won her quarterfinal match today in straight sets while, Phoebe Peus (USA) continued her impressive run in North Vancouver to round out the Top 4 in the girls singles draw. Peus made her way through the qualifying event and has now won 6 straight matches.

On the boys side, Jayden Templeman is the only Canadian remaining in the draw after he winning his quarterfinal in straight sets. Americans Noah Gampel, Nate Bonetto, and Colton Smith round out the boys semifinal match ups going into Friday.

In the girls doubles, Canadians Leena Bennetto and Martyna Ostrzygalo booked their spot in the final with a straight sets victory. BC-duo Danielle Tuhten and Reece Carter won an all-BC semifinal 6-1, 6-4 to make it to the final as well. On the boys side, BC’s Henry Ren partnered with Quebec’s Berk Tunali to advance to the doubles final.

On Friday, the singles semifinals will hit the courts at 9 AM at North Vancouver Tennis Centre. First up is Canadian Jayden Templeman who will take on Nate Bonetto (USA). At the same time, there will be an all-BC match up in the girls first semifinal as Danielle Tuhten will take on Stefanie Frias da Silva. The other two semifinal singles matches will follow the 9 AM matches. The second boys semifinal will feature No. 5 Noah Gampel (USA) against Colton Smith. The second girls semifinal will see No. 1 seed Jenna Defalco (USA) against Phoebe Peus (USA).

The boys and girls doubles finals will follow the singles matches. The girls doubles final will feature first seeds BC’s Leena Bennetto and Martyna Ostrzygalo (CAN) against the second seeded BC-team of Reece Carter and Danielle Tuhten. Canadians Henry Ren (BC) and Berk Tunali will challenge Americans Nedim Suko and Dominic Jakovljevic for the boys doubles title.

Be sure to come down to the North Vancouver Tennis Centre this Friday and Saturday to catch the Davis Trading Junior ITF Indoor Championships J4 semifinals and finals live in action. This event includes international players and the top junior from BC and Canada competing for international U18 ranking points and the Davis Trading Junior ITF Indoor Championships title.
