Bianca Andreescu Becomes First Grand Slam Singles Champion in Canadian History

Flushing Meadows, NY – Ontario’s Bianca Andreescu has made Canadian tennis history today by winning the US Open Tennis Championships. This marks the first-ever singles Grand Slam title by a Canadian tennis player. Andreescu defeated 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, 6-3 , 7-5 to win her first Grand Slam singles title.

This match also marked the largest age gap between two competitors in a Grand Slam final in the Open Era (18 years, 263 days).
