The 2019 Junior Outdoor Provincials concluded this past weekend. Thank you to all of the host clubs and our sponsors including, Davis Trading, for making this weekend happen. We would also like to thank our players, parents, officials, and volunteers who participated in the tournaments.

Under-12:

The Under 12 provincials was held at New Westminster Tennis Club. On behalf of Tennis BC, we would like to thank NWTC, President Janet Dickie, and the entire group of volunteers for their great hospitality throughout the four days. On the boys’ side, Eric William Wang took home the title by defeating Scotty Su 6-3 6-0 in the final. In the boys’ doubles, Eric William Wang partnered up with Anyan Xu to win is second title of the day defeating Gary Jiang and Jeff Shen. Eliana Kook won the girls singles title by prevailing against Emma Si Yu Dong 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in a three hour battle. Eliana Kook then partnered up with Carling Allaye-Chan to win the doubles title. The girls defeated Havana Kadi and Emma si yu Dong 7-6 (5), 7-5 in a very exciting match.

Under-14

The Under 14 provincials took place on the red clay at the Bear Mountain Tennis Centre In the boys’ singles, Ji Seong (Daniel) Kim defeated Denny Bao 6-2, 7-5 to win the title. The two singles finalists then teamed up to win the doubles tournament. Kim and Bao defeated Elijah Kook and Cameron Jim 6-3, 7-5. On the girls’ side, Isabelle Zhu defeated Isabella Asenov in a hard fought three set battle. The final score was 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (2) in favor of Zhu. In the doubles final, Gabriella Lindgren and Diana Craciun defeated Isabella Asenov and Naomi Schraeder 6-2, 6-1 to win the title.

Under-16

The Burnaby Tennis Club hosted the Under 16 provincials. We thank the club for their continued support of Tennis BC and junior tournaments. Danielle Tuhten took home the girls’ title by edging out Stefanie Frias da Silva 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 in a hotly contested final. Frias da Silva then paired up with Grace Haugen to take home the doubles victory. The girls defeated Sonia Skobkareva and Danielle Tuhten 6-2, 6-4. On the boys side, Keita Duclos defeated Henry Ren 6-1 6-2. Later in the day, Duclos and Ren went from opponents to partners to take home the doubles trophy after a 7-6 (5), 6-2 victory over Aron Pilbart and Lachlan Robertson.

Under-18

the Richmond Country Club hosted the Under 18 provincials. With four days of beautiful weather, players and staff enjoyed their time at the club. A day after winning a nail-biting semi-final 7-5 in the third set, Maryjoe Crisologo again found herself victorious in the girls singles final. Crisologo defeated Grace Haugen 6-4, 6-3. Crisology the partnered up with Hana Cho to win her second title of the day. The girls defeated Haugen and Megan Lang-Gould 1-6, 6-4, 10-8. First seed, Jackson Boone, defeated second seed, Henry Ren, 6-4, 6-3 in the boys singles final. Later that day, Ren got back into the winners’ circle by winning the doubles title alongside Keita Duclos. Ren and Duclos defeated David Zoric and Isaac Dee 7-5, 6-3.
